About this reference

This library documents gear couplings for the engineers who specify, install and diagnose them: rotating equipment engineers, maintenance planners, project engineers writing mechanical datasheets, and technical buyers who need to know whether two quotations are comparable. It covers standards and specifications, selection and sizing, misalignment and geometry, lubrication and sealing, installation and alignment, failure analysis, and materials and manufacturing. It is reference documentation, not sales literature.

Editorial review

Articles are researched against primary source documents and published with their publication and last-updated dates visible. Where a clause reference is given, it points to a specific revision of the source document; the source document governs, not our summary of it.

Independent technical review is being established: a named mechanical engineer will review each article and will be credited by name and credential on the article itself. Until that reviewer is in place, no article on this site carries a review credit — where you see no reviewer named, none has reviewed it. Corrections are welcome in the meantime and are published as dated updates.
